CRSSD Festival is the only festival in California where you can watch world-class techno and house acts against a waterfront backdrop in perfect San Diego fall weather. September 26–27, 2026. Here's your complete guide.

At a Glance

Why CRSSD Is Different

Most California festivals are built on the mega-festival model — 100,000-person capacity, EDM-pop headliners, and corporate sponsorships that show up everywhere. CRSSD is the opposite. It caps at 12,000 attendees per day and books from a strictly curated musical perspective: techno, house, melodic electronic, and the edges of those genres.

The Waterfront Park setting is legitimately beautiful — bayfront views of San Diego Bay, palm trees, and September weather that sits in the 72–78°F range. The production values are high without being overwhelming. And the crowd is, consistently, one of the most knowledgeable festival crowds in the country.

The Stages

The Music: What to Expect

CRSSD Fall typically books 3–4 major international headliners alongside 20+ supporting acts. The fall edition skews darker and more techno-forward than the spring edition, which trends melodic and house-heavy. Expect acts from the European techno circuit, the Chicago/Detroit house tradition, and emerging LA and OC artists who've been grinding the underground circuit all year.

The Boat Shed is where to spend your late afternoon — the programming there consistently features the deepest and most adventurous bookings, often local OC and LA artists who KEEPITIL readers will recognize.

Getting There

Waterfront Park is located in downtown San Diego at 1600 Pacific Highway. The venue is extremely accessible by public transit — the San Diego Trolley's Green Line stops at the County Center/Little Italy station, a short walk from the park. Lyft and Uber pricing surges significantly after 10PM when the festival ends.

Parking on-site is limited and expensive. Driving and parking in the Little Italy or Gaslamp neighborhood and walking 10–20 minutes is a common approach. For those coming from OC and LA, the Pacific Surfliner Amtrak train to Santa Fe Depot Station is a legitimately pleasant option — the station is 0.6 miles from the festival.

What to Bring

CRSSD allows small backpacks and clear bags. The fall weather is warm during the day and cools to the mid-60s by 10PM — a light layer for the end of night is smart. Sunscreen is not optional; the waterfront location means zero shade during the afternoon sets. Bring a portable phone charger. Comfortable shoes that you can stand and dance in for 10+ hours — the festival grounds are paved but extensive.

Accommodation

Hotels near Waterfront Park (Little Italy, Gaslamp, downtown San Diego) book out months in advance once lineup is announced. Book early. The Airbnb market in Mission Hills and North Park — 10–15 minutes from the festival — is less competitive. For those willing to commute, La Jolla and Mission Valley have more availability and reasonable Lyft distances.
