HARD Summer returns to Exposition Park in Los Angeles on August 1–2, 2026. It's the biggest single-city outdoor dance music festival in the country — 55,000+ attendees per day, multiple stages, 100+ artists, and the kind of LA-specific energy that you can only get when an entire city decides to party outdoors on a summer weekend.

What Makes HARD Summer Unique
HARD Summer is one of the only major dance music festivals in the US that takes hip-hop as seriously as electronic music. The lineup always features major hip-hop headliners alongside electronic acts — in recent years bridging acts that exist in both worlds, reflecting LA's unique cultural reality where rap and rave culture have genuinely merged.
The festival is also distinctly, unapologetically Los Angeles. The crowd, the fashion, the attitude — it's a different energy than a Midwest festival or a European event. Harder, louder, more willing to be ridiculous in the best possible way.
The Stages
HARD Summer typically runs four to five stages simultaneously. Stage A is the main arena — capacity 40,000+, with the biggest headliners and a full production setup. Stage B is the secondary electronic stage, typically featuring techno and house acts. Stage C is the hip-hop stage. Stage D and the Beach Stage run throughout the day with supporting acts and are the places to catch emerging artists early in their careers.
The best strategy: anchor your day around two or three headliners you can't miss, then spend the rest of the day exploring. The conflicts are always brutal — HARD Summer is notorious for scheduling the two acts you most want to see at exactly the same time.
Getting There
Exposition Park is extremely Metro-accessible — the Expo Line (now the E Line) stops directly at the venue. From downtown LA, the ride is about 10 minutes. From Santa Monica, about 25 minutes. From OC, the Metrolink connects to Union Station, where you can transfer to the E Line. Metro is by far the best option. Driving adds stress, cost, and post-festival wait time that eliminates any time saved over transit.
August in LA: What to Expect
August at Exposition Park means direct sun and temperatures between 82–92°F during the afternoon hours, cooling to the mid-70s by 8PM. The festival grounds have limited shade. Sunscreen, a hat, and staying hydrated are all serious priorities for the day sets. The festival provides free water refill stations at multiple locations. Cooling zones with misting fans are usually available.
Night sets are where HARD Summer's atmosphere reaches its peak — the production lights up, the crowd's energy shifts, and the music gets progressively harder. If you're strategic about managing your energy, pace yourself through the afternoon acts to be at full capacity when the main stage headliners start after dark.
Tickets
General Admission two-day, single-day, and VIP passes are all available. HARD Summer regularly sells out GA early. VIP includes elevated viewing areas, dedicated entrances, and upscale food and beverage options. For those coming from OC who want to maximize time, a GA+ or VIP pass with dedicated parking or shuttle access may be worth the premium.
