Privacy Policy

The short version: you can play as a guest and nothing about you leaves your phone. Your photos stay on your device unless you choose to save, share or back them up. Step counts from Apple Health, and anything worked out from them, never leave your phone. There is no advertising tracking and we never sell data. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app.

Camera

PokaSnap uses your camera so you can take photos with your pet. The live camera image is processed only on your device to show your pet on screen and to create the photo you take. The live camera feed is never sent to us or anyone else.

Your photos

Photos you take are stored in the "My Snaps" album inside the app, on your device. A photo leaves your device only when you choose to:

Save adds it to your phone's photo library (PokaSnap asks for add-only permission at that moment and never reads your existing photos).
Share opens your device's share sheet.
Back up (optional, signed-in players only) uploads a compressed copy (about 1080 pixels) of the photos you pick to your private cloud space so you can restore them on a new phone. PokaSnap+ members can turn on automatic backup of their favourites. Backed-up copies are private to your account and are never shown to other players.

If you choose "Use a photo" instead of the camera, the photo you pick is used on your device only.

Apple Health (steps)

If you turn on Walk With Your Pet, PokaSnap asks Apple Health for permission to read today's step count only. It is used on your device to give step-milestone rewards. PokaSnap never writes to Apple Health, never reads any other health data, and never sends step counts to our servers, to analytics, to support or to advertisers. Nothing worked out from your steps leaves your phone either: cloud backups leave out your walk record, the step milestones you reached and the rewards tied to them. Adventure walks with your pets are rewarded by walking time, not steps. You can say no and still earn the same rewards in other ways.

Notifications

PokaSnap can remind you about your pet, the Daily Snap and events. It only asks after your first Daily Snap, every reminder type can be switched off in Settings, and reminders are scheduled on your device.

Accounts and cloud backup

You can play as a guest; guest progress is stored only on your device. If you choose to create an account (with email), we store your email address and a unique account ID so you can sign in. PokaSnap accounts are KEEPITIL accounts, stored with our provider Supabase. When you tap Back up, we store your game progress (your pets, levels, items and settings, without step counts) and the photo copies you chose, linked to your account, so you can restore them.

Purchases and PokaSnap+

PokaSnap offers optional in-app purchases and the optional PokaSnap+ subscription. Payments are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card or payment details. The app receives Apple's confirmation of what you bought (product and transaction ID) so it can unlock it on your device, and you can restore purchases at any time. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in your Apple ID settings.

Friends and invites

Friends are optional and need an account. When you open Friends & Invites we create a random friend code for you and store it with a display name (your pet's name) on our provider Supabase. Other players see only that display name, and only when you exchange friend codes. We store who invited whom (so the inviter can earn coins) and your friend list. There is no chat and no public profile. Invites are sent by you through your phone's share sheet; we don't read your contacts. Deleting your account deletes your friend code, invite records and friendships.

KEEPITIL Music (SoundCloud and YouTube)

KEEPITIL Music lists KEEPITIL's own tracks. The official SoundCloud player loads from soundcloud.com inside the app when you tap play there, and also for the short intro song ("Meow Meow") each time the app starts, only if Music is on in Settings. Turn Music off and the intro is silent and SoundCloud is not contacted at startup. Track artwork loads from SoundCloud's image servers. SoundCloud may collect information such as your IP address, device information and cookies under SoundCloud's privacy policy, and may play ads. YouTube buttons open YouTube, where Google's privacy policy applies. PokaSnap sends nothing about you to either service. Your playlists are saved in the game (and in your optional cloud backup). Listening never earns coins.

Updates

When you open Settings, or tap Check for Updates, PokaSnap downloads a small public file from keepitil.com that lists the newest version. Nothing about you is sent with it. Updates themselves always come from the App Store (or TestFlight for testers); PokaSnap never updates its own code.

Help and support

Help & Support answers are built into the app. If you email us, we receive what you write and your email address. You can choose to include your app version and the screen you were on; nothing else is attached. PokaSnap does not send diagnostics, crash reports or gameplay data to us or to any AI service.

Gameplay events

The app records simple gameplay events (for example "photo taken" or "mission completed") on your device to help the game work. These events contain no photos, names, step counts or free text. PokaSnap does not send them to any server.

What we don't collect

No location.
No microphone or audio recording.
No contacts (invites use your share sheet; we never read your address book).
No advertising identifiers, no ad networks in PokaSnap and no tracking across other apps or websites. (SoundCloud's own player, if you choose to play music, may show SoundCloud's ads.)
No selling of personal data, ever.

The short videos you can choose to watch for bonus coins are PokaSnap's own clips played inside the app; no ad network is involved. KEEPITIL Music is separate and never earns coins.

Children

PokaSnap is designed to be friendly for all ages and contains no chat, social feeds, messaging or public profiles. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; a guest can play without providing any.

Deleting your data

Account: in the app go to Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your KEEPITIL account, your cloud progress, your backed-up photos, and your friend code, invite records and friendships. If your photos can't be deleted (for example you are offline), your account is not deleted and the app tells you, so nothing is left behind. On your device: Settings → Start over erases your pet, progress and snaps; deleting the app removes them too. You can also email info@keepitil.com to request deletion.
