What we are

KEEPITIL is an independent editorial platform dedicated to the underground electronic music community of Southern California. We cover the artists, promoters, brands, and events that define the OC and LA underground — the warehouse raves, the late-night clubs, the record shops, the local labels, and the people building the scene.

We started because the underground deserves its own media. Not aggregated festival coverage, not algorithmically-generated playlists, not listicles of the same ten globally-famous names — but real, original writing about the music and people making something genuine happen in our cities.

What we cover

• Artists — profile interviews with DJs, producers, and live acts from across OC and LA, from established names to the next generation of local talent.
• Brands — spotlights on the labels, clothing lines, gear shops, and creative studios building the infrastructure behind the scene.
• Organizers — coverage of the promoters and collectives throwing events: warehouse parties, club nights, and community gatherings across the region.
• Culture — long-form editorial on music history, scene dynamics, gear culture, mixing technique, and the politics of underground nightlife.

Our coverage area

KEEPITIL is focused on two of the most vibrant underground electronic music scenes in the United States: Orange County and Los Angeles. From Long Beach to DTLA, from Anaheim to Riverside, from the beach cities to the San Fernando Valley — if it's happening in Southern California's underground, we're on it. Our geographic focus is a deliberate editorial choice: local scenes are better served by dedicated coverage than by brief mentions in publications chasing national reach.

Editorial independence

KEEPITIL does not take payment for coverage. Being featured in our artist roster, brand directory, or organizer listings is based on editorial merit — we reach out to people whose work we find genuinely interesting, and we accept applications from the scene through our open submission process.

The name

"Keep It IL" is a phrase from the culture — shorthand for keeping things underground, authentic, and outside the commercial mainstream. It's been adopted broadly across dance music scenes as a marker of real: real music, real community, real scene.
